3 Authors come together at Ullapool bookshop

FRIDAY JUNE 2ND: ULLAPOOL BOOKSHOP, QUAY STREET, ULLAPOOL ‘A SENSE OF PLACE; A MOMENT IN TIME’ 3 AUTHORS COME TOGETHER AT ULLAPOOL BOOKSHOP FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY.

On Friday 2nd June from 5.30pm, 3 bestselling authors, will come together at Ullapool Bookshop for one night only. Entitled ‘A Sense of Place; a moment in time,’ historical fiction writer S.G. MacLean (Shona) (The Bookseller of Inverness, recently longlisted for both a CWA Gold and Historical Dagger Award), crime writer G. R. Halliday (Under the Marsh) (Gareth), and novelist John McLellan (The Faultline) will present an evening chaired by Bookshop Manager Katharine Douglas, discussing the sense of place in each of their very different novels. Each author undertakes very different research methods, from visiting the original Scottish archives to verify historical accuracies, inc Ordnance Survey maps of the 18th Century and historical buildings of significance, to climbing and exploring the NW and investigating Scottish crimes and to verifying the region of Kinlochewe, including setting the scene in the late 1970’s, for a group of young people who spent the summer there, exploring life, geology, history and ultimately making life-long friendships in the novel The Faultline.

Ullapool Bookshop is delighted and honoured that all 3 authors are taking time out of their very busy writing schedules and commitments, to be in Ullapool for this event on Friday 2nd June and it is sure to be a popular evening. The event begins with complimentary refreshments, including locally made canapes by Izabela (who also works in the Bookshop) along with wine or soft drinks, with the talks beginning prompt at 6pm. The event is expected to last an hour and will be followed by the opportunity to buy books by each author and books can be signed and dedicated on the evening.
