The Ullapool Bookshop

As well as books, we offer a large selection of cards for almost any occasion, Postcards, Art materials, Calendars and Diaries, Local and National Ordnance Survey Maps and guides, Fishing guides particular to the surrounding area, and also Pictures (both framed and unframed) of Wester Ross and Sutherland.

We have also developed a new section of Audio products, in particular CDs (Classical and Scottish), DVDs (General and Scottish) and both Adult and Children’s Audiobooks. Currently we only sell our books in the shop, but we receive enquiries via email and phone daily, and are happy to offer a Mail Order service to all of our customers. With the advent of the 7 day a week Ferry sailing from Ullapool to Stornoway (Isle of Lewis), the Ullapool Bookshop is now open seven days a week all year round, therefore providing a yearly service for visitors and also to those who live in and around Ullapool and Ross-shire. The Ullapool Bookshop also offers Internet Access as well as printing facilities through our own Computer Terminal. The Internet is £1 for 15 minutes and 25p per page for A4 printing.

At the moment we don’t sell on-line. However, if you see something on our website or have been in the shop before and would like to purchase a particular item, please get in touch with us.

The Ullapool Bookshop participates in World Book Day, promoting special books for Children, as well as World Book Night as being a registered shop for givers. During early May, the Ullapool Bookshop also is involved in the Ullapool Book Festival (link is external), with all the authors’ books on display throughout the month, as well as welcoming authors who visit from time to time. The Bookshop, Captain’s Cabin  and Lochbroom Hardware  are all owned by the same family run business, whose director is Katrina Thomson; the third generation of her family to run these local shops.
